notes: set 2 beginning missing 5-6 seconds, as someone was in my way when i was trying to get to my gear as they took the stage, and the 722 takes a second to boot up.
I wasn't sure what to label this as, since it's more than Phil&Friends, not quite "the dead" so i came up with DFO "Deadheads for Obama"

Subject: Wow~!~!~!
First, I was a Obama supporter BEFORE the Warfield show, or even before Lesh planned this whole shindig!

And, secondly, GOD DAMN IS THIS IS A HOT SHOW~! I got tickets to Deadheads 4 Obama Part Duex, and I was just wondering how good the Warfield show really was...

No need to wonder whether I'll get my money's worth or not Monday -- long as they play HALF as good it'll be worth it!

I am referring to the reliability of the YouTube version. It's not accurate.
President Bush's "American Dream Down payment Fund" is what got us into a bank crisis.

I'd like to know about the crazy YouTube video version. How's the reliability of that one.

Subject: great! (and grateful!)
This is the best music I've heard in years. I just watched the DVD of set I and II and when it ended I was despondent (and yelled some expletives). Thanks to I didn't even have to cool down before getting to groove on to set III.
Go GD...Go Obama!

Subject: Why to support Obama!
I really liked the music and the band getting back together, but about Obama. I am just quoting Bobby Weir from an interview at Mountain Jam that is on YouTube to show why you should support Barack Obama. Bob said that the current state of government is not democracy, and is actually Plutocracy. Plutocracy is rule by the wealth; such as the lobbyists. Bob concluded that Barack Obama would be our best chance in putting democracy back into the United States.

well you guys need to remmeber the old days of the grateful dead "we are everywhere " that means "we" cross over to ALL walks of life , thats why we went to see to the boys......

If you don't like the boys supporting a candidate, too bad, get over it. How is Obama a corporate whore more than any other political candidate?
Why is it okay for coporations, unions etc to support a candidate but a group of musicians can not?
If you disagree with their stance, go listen to Toby Keith, you may find him more to your liking.

Subject: great show but...
boo on the boys for supporting a political candidate, and a corporate whore at that. i know that's unpopular to say, cause Obama's all about "change" right? in my mind, though, Obama is about nothing but political rhetoric and owing a hell of a lot to corporate lobbies. if it was just a "get out the vote" show i'd think that was great, but considering it was a "deadheads for obama" show, i'm really dissapointed. Phil at least had the moral regard not to play the Pelosi benefit as the Dead have never supported political candidates, but then he was the one who set this up?! whatever, I mean they are free to do what they please, but this dissapoints me as a longtime head. count me in the "deadheads for participatory self-governance not under the auspices of corporate hegemony" camp; doesn't quite roll off the tongue but slogans that do tend to be chalk-full of populist rhetoric

...what a great evening, I feel very lucky to have been in there (and up front in the pit too). A worthy cause if I've ever heard of one. Without Obama, were sure to have four more years of the U.S. Blues. Maybe we'll get lucky and there will be a "Deadheads for Obama" summer tour 2008!! Thanks boys.

p.s. Barry Sless now owns Eyes of the World!!! What a maniac on the pedal steel!!

Great download. Good to hear the boys together again, it has been too long.

It is a shame they are so misguided about the direction America should be going. Forget the constitution, let's just bring on socialism. And do any of us think Phil remembers any of 1968, or 1967, or 1969?

With Ian Stone recordings you know you get the real deal. I dunno how he does it but this gig has atmosphere and he was a lucky guy to attend - no doubt tickets being as rare as rocking horse excrement. This current PLF line-up kicks ass and cant wait to see then in Scranton and Bethel next summer with Trey and Mike in support.
A decent quality 2.06 GB download in mpeg is up on isohunt - get it whilst you can.
Pretty boring out here in Kuwait. Emails would be welcomed to

Subject: Hunter Thompson would be so proud
I just lost a nice speech about Hunter and the 'DEAD HEAD VOTE !!!' let's make him proud . Go out and get your voting rights re-instated, you just can't have a gun. If the band re-united to make a statement about this man, and we have followed their lead spiritually, maybe we should follow their political veiw also. Thank you , for the quick upload and great recording. It blows iclips blows out of the water (not a typo).I for one had given up on being proud of my country's lack of politics, so I am going to try to keep the faith for a little longer. Then it is 3rd world anarchy for me Love to barter. Peace and Love & as they say in Chicago vote and vote often!!!!

Subject: Sounds Great, Lesh Filling
Thanks so much for this, Ian. The sound is exceptionally good for an AUD.

This show is important. For one thing, the band sound good. They are exciting. They groove right away. Phil is huge. Bobby's voice is good.

Another reason it's important is why it happened. I know a lot of Heads may be upset about the boys taking a political position. But the truth is, it is the catalsyt that made them get back together, at least for one more show. So to that I say, go Obama. If he can runite the Dead maybe he can change the world.

Either way, sounds like a blast of a night.
